EBOO vs. Other Ozone Therapies: What’s the Difference?
Ozone therapy is a powerful tool in holistic medicine, known for its ability to support the immune system and enhance cellular health. However, not all ozone treatments are created equal, and understanding the differences is key to choosing the right therapy for your specific health goals.

Standard Ozone IV Drips
The most basic form of ozone infusions. In this method, medical ozone is dissolved into a sterile saline solution, which is then administered to the patient through a standard intravenous drip. While this method introduces ozone into the body to provide systemic benefits, it is the least concentrated approach and does not involve treating the patient’s own blood directly outside the body.

Major Autohemotherapy (MAH)
A more common and potent method is Major Autohemotherapy, or MAH. During an MAH session, a relatively small amount of blood—typically 100cc to 200cc—is drawn from the patient into a sterile bag. This blood is then mixed with a precise amount of medical ozone gas before being reinfused back into the patient’s bloodstream. MAH is highly effective but treats only a small volume of blood in a single pass.

Introducing EBOO: The Most Advanced Form
EBOO, which stands for Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation, represents the next generation of ozone treatment. Unlike other methods, EBOO creates a continuous, closed-loop circuit. Blood is drawn from one arm, passes through a specialized machine where it is treated, and is then immediately returned to the other arm. This allows for a much more comprehensive treatment in a single session.

The Core Difference: Filtration
The single most important distinction that sets EBOO apart is the integration of a dialysis filter. While standard ozone IVs and MAH introduce ozone, EBOO does that and simultaneously cleans the blood. As your blood flows through the EBOO circuit, the filter removes harmful inflammatory proteins, cellular waste, heavy metals, toxins, and other debris. This filtration step is a game-changer for detoxification.

Unmatched Volume and Potency
Because EBOO is a continuous process, it can treat a far greater volume of blood than MAH. An EBOO session can treat up to two liters of blood or more, compared to just a couple hundred milliliters in a standard MAH session. Treating this massive volume with ozone while also filtering it results in a much more potent and systemically powerful therapy, offering a more thorough “reset” of the blood.

Efficiency for Better Results
This high-volume, dual-action approach makes EBOO an incredibly efficient therapy. The level of detoxification and ozonation achieved in a single 60-minute EBOO session might be comparable to numerous sessions of traditional MAH. For patients dealing with significant toxic burden or chronic inflammatory conditions, this efficiency can lead to better outcomes in a shorter amount of time, making it a powerful medical ozone option.
Choosing the Right Littleton Ozone Therapy
While all forms of ozone therapy offer benefits, EBOO provides the most comprehensive approach by combining high-volume ozonation with advanced filtration. If you want to learn more about our ozone injection therapy options, contact Arne Wellness Center to discuss which treatment is right for you.
